As a GP at Hand patient, you will be called automatically for any screening appointments that you are due. We will also contact you to remind you when you need to attend an appointment. If you’re invited for a screening appointment that is not convenient for you, or you would like to be referred to a service in another area, it is important that you contact us as soon as possible so we can arrange this for you.
Screening is a really important way of preventing health problems in the future, and we actively encourage all our patients to participate. It is a way of finding out if you are at higher risk of a health problem, so that early treatment can be offered, or information given to help you make informed decisions.
The NHS has a number of screening programmes which you can read about here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/nhs-screening/
